A total of 29 people, including four health workers, have died of Ebola in Uganda since authorities announced an outbreak in the center of the country two weeks ago, the World Health Organization reported on Wednesday.
“Sixty-three confirmed and probable cases have been reported, including 29 deaths. Ten health workers have been infected and four have died," WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news conference.
"Vaccines used successfully to curb the recent Ebola epidemics in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are not effective against the type of Ebola virus responsible for this epidemic," he added.
